HOKUYO-MARU 10,750-dwt Limestone Carrier
The HOKUYO-MARU, 10,750-dwt self-loading/unloading limestone carrier delivered in August 1998, is the sister vessel of the TAKUYO-MARU (delivered in March 1998).
The preliminary design was made by NKK Corporation and the construction drawings were developed by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The vessel has 1,500 t/hr loading and 2,000 t/hr unloading system with receiver hopper, deck conveyor, shuttle conveyor, rotary discharge machine, boom conveyor etc.
The vessel is also equipped with a Schilling rudder, C.P. propeller and bow thruster for maneuvers when leaving and entering at piers. The hull is classed by NK NS* and the machinery is classed and distinguished by the class notation MNS* M0 for unmanned system in the engine room.
Cargo handling is completely remote controlled from the control room. Remote control of ballast valves is also included in the ship's features.
