The 24,406-dwt open hatch type bulk carrier GLOBAL PIONEER was completed in February 1997 at Toyohashi Works of Kanasashi Co., Ltd. to the order of Burma Navigation Corporation of Myanmar.
The vessel is designed for carrying chips, coal, grain in bulk, steel products, packaged lumber and logs, and is one of a series of 24,000-dwt type bulk carriers built by the yard.
Cargo space is divided into four box-type cargo holds with double-hull construction.
The vessel has wide hatches of 16.00m long x 17.38m wide for No. 1 hold; 20.00m long x 22.00m wide for Nos. 2 & 3; and 20.00m long x 20.00m wide for No.4. The widths of the hatches correspond to about 85 percent of the 26.00m molded breadth of the hull.
The vessel is equipped with mechanical-driven ventilation devices and dry dehumidifiers, which control environmental conditions inside each hold.
