Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. has delivered WESTERN ISLAND to Holy Lotus Marine S.a. on February 16, 1998 at Kure No. 1 Works. She is the seventh of the Future-42 vessels.
Features
1. Has well balanced dimensions to cover worldwide trade.
2. Has five cargo holds, strengthened for heavy cargo with Nos. 2 and 4 holds empty and fitted with wide weathertight folding type hatch covers.
3. Has four electro-hydraulic type 30-ton deck cranes and can be fitted with grabs as option.
4. Has fuel efficient hull form with IHI LV (Low Viscous) Fin attached at stern part.
5. Grain cargo can be loaded with untrimmed end.
6. Hold access complies with AWWF requirements.
7. The vessel can load packaged log on upper deck and portable log stanchions can be equipped on both sides of upper deck.
