6-2 ENGINE FRAME AND MAIN BEARING
Engine frame is the hanging type and provided with adequate strength against high combustion pressure. The charge air manifold is cast in, and makes up a double wall construction which is very effective in reducing the noise level and increasing strength for engine frame. The L.O. gallery and the C.W. manifold are integrated into the frame far ease of maintenance, and reduction of connection with the outside.
The main bearing caps are made of nodular cast iron and are hydraulically tightened-up in both directions underneath and side-ways so that deformation of the bearing bore can be kept to a minimum.
