3.2.3 As the result, unique products must include;
1) Innovative change in ship form and propulsion system as concentrated output from various area of maritime technology. But the best thing is something different in appearance, which means some fundamental change is involved.
2) And very reliable products requiring no buyer's approval for structure or plant configuration is needed.
3) And also to have long market life, which will result in less production cost and less R&D burden.
3.3 Role of Classification Society
To effectively implement the points we learned from the aviation industries, classification societies must be also renovated. For this purpose;
3.3.1 Firstly Classification Societies should be the body having more authority like Federal Aviation Bureau.
1) To be so, responsibility of classification society to be strengthened more.
2) Then guarantee should be given by Classes on what they have approved. At least responsibility must be shared between builders and classes. Increase class entrance fee if so needed.
3) And Classes shall have more influence to insurance policy.
3.3.2 To be such, Classes shall have more technical potential. As following some examples;
1) Classes shall have rational evaluation system for ship structure and performance by simulation bases.
2) Classes shall posses reliable residual life prediction tools and results of residual life assessment shall be reflected to the insurance premium.
3) Rule table must give ample scantling and those who can make good engineering must be the only ones who are able to enjoy relaxation of rules.
4) As intellectual asset of the Classes, significant fees should be chargeable
