DEVELOPMENT DIRECTION FOR INLAND TRANSPORT TERMINALS/FRONTIER FACILITIES

 

■ The designated inland urban growth poles need to be provided 7with inland transport terminals in order to magnify the impact of East-west corridor development.

An inland transport terminal is conceptually composed of:

・ Truck terminal

・ Bus terminal

・ Inland container depot (ICD)

・ Warehouse and parking space

Multimodal operation with rail, air and inland waterways enhances the attractiveness. Thailand is keen to develop inland truck terminals as follows.

■ AII the existing frontier facilities at cross-borders should be renewed and expanded based on the following policies:

1) To provide adequate facilities for immigration and custom clearance and sufficient capacities for parking and telecommunication

2) To standardize information system, such as;

・ UN Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT)

・ Advanced Cargo Information System (ACIS)

・ Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA)

3) To simplify custom procedures in accordance with the International Convention on Harmonized System of Commodity Classification

4) To minimize or abolish levies, taxes, dues, tolls, user charges, and guarantees, bonds and deposits

5) To train and educate staff using English-language programs
