1 Saudi ARAMCO Company
has decided to make permanent
amendments of the
present project for separating
the ship traffic
scheme between Zuluf and Marjan
before December 1999
to coincide with the expansion
of oil fields in the
submerged area. With this plan
which aims to extend
drilling and excavation activities
covered by the
present separation scheme, the
company thinks that
the amendment of the project
will be in the benefit
and safety of the international
transportation and
ARAMCO's production facilities
of the offshore area.
2 The area has been surveyed during
March/April and July 1997 and
completed to IHO
specifications, Order 2*. A copy of the relevant
portion of the chart showing
the proposed amendment
including a description of the
proposed traffic
separation scheme are attached
at annexes 1 and 2.
Action requested of the Committee
3 The Committee is requested to approve
the proposed permanent amendment
to the Marjan/Zuluf
traffic separation scheme.
