SUMMARY OF REPLIES TO
IHB LETTER HGE 1/1998 OF 3 MARCH 1998, ADDRESSED TO HGE
MEMBERS.
- RCDS MODE OF OPERATION, AS AN APPENDIX OF
THE ECDIS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- ADVICE ON ECS
Seven responses
- Mr. M.Eaton.Canada. No comments on the
proposed drafts.
- Ing. en chef G. Bessero. SHOM. France.
Supports the proposed drafts. See also France's views in
Appendix C. Has proposed some changes to the documents, in
particular that detailed in Appendix G.
- Mr. Peter Kidman. International Chambar of
shipping. Agrees that a performance standard for RCDS is
desirable. Queries however the appending of a general RCDS
performance standard to the ECDIS performance standards,
unless that performance standard was to only, and
specifically, relate to “the RCDS Mode of Operation of an
ECDIS”. Supports the draft Advice on ECS. Has proposed some
changes in the wording of the draft RCDS Mode of Operation.
- Capt.N.A. Prahl. NOAA/NOS.USA Supports the
proposed drafts. See also USA's views in Appendix C.
- Capt. A. Williams. Marine Safety. Canada.
Has reservations against appending a RCDS standard to the
ECDIS performance standard and thinks it should more
appropriately serve as a stand alone document, if a RCDS
standard is required. Supports the ECS Guidelines developed
at HGE 18.
- Mr. F.L.A. Bloot. Ministry of Transport.
Netherlands. Supports the draft RCDS Mode of Operation, as an
Appendix to the ECDIS performance standards.
- Mr. Frode Klepsyik. NHS. Norway. See
Norway's views in Appendix C.
