* Resolution A.817(19) -
Performance Standards of Electronic Chart Display and
Information Systems (ECDIS).
Add a new paragraph 5 as follows:
"5 Approved Nautical Chart.:
.1 an official nautical chart; or
.2 a nautical chart recognized by
the Administration to be compliant with standards adopted
by the Organization* , based on data derived from
Official Nautical charts or other official nautical
publications, and certified by a competent certifying
authority.

Change the numbers of current paragraphs 5
and 6 into 6 and 7 respectively.
Regulation 20 - Functional requirements for
shipborne navigational systems and equipment and performance
standards (document NAV 43/WP.4).
In sub-paragraph 1.2.2 delete the word
"official" and insert the word "approved"
as to read:

approved nautical charts to plan and
display their route for the intended voyage and to plot
and monitor positions throughout the voyage."
Regulation 25 - Nautical charts and
publications (document NAV 42/23/Add.1, annex 17)
In paragraph 1 delete the word
"official" and insert "approved" as to
read:
". 1
All ships shall carry adequate and
up-to-date approved nautical charts, sailing directions,
lists of lights, notices to mariners, tide tables and all
other nautical publications necessary for the intended
voyage."
Delete paragraph 2.
B. Amendments to the Annex to
resolution A.817(19)
The performance standards annexed to
resolution A.817(19) should be amended to reflect the
proposed changes to the revised chapter V recognizing the use
of approved charts.

consider the recommendations in the above paragraph 9.
