Coming-of-Spring (Setsubun)
On February 3, children throw beans and chant "Fuku wa uchi, oni wa soto" (Happiness in, devils out) to wish for happiness.

On March 3, the healthy growth of children is celebrated with the traditional decorative "Hina-ningyo" (emperor and empress dolls). Children also have fun playing games.

Rice Pounding (Mochitsuki)
During the last days of the year or the beginning of the New Year, glutinous
rice is steamed, placed in a wooden mortar and pounded into rice cakes.
もちつき
お正月の前後に、もち米を蒸して、臼に入れ、杵でついて餅を作ります。
