Amelina is the biggest selling, dangdut artist as well as one of the most popular female artists in Malaysia. Her first album, 'Amelina' reached double platinum status with sales exceeding 100,000 mark. Although not many artists would begin their career by singing dangdut, Amelina has proved that local music lovers, as well as in Indonesia still enjoy listening to dangdut.

Her second album, 'Asyik', saw even greater success, earning her the Malaysian Music Industry Award for 1995 Best Traditional Album. In a short period of time, the album achieved triple platinum status with sales of 190,000 units. Her third album 'Cinta O Cinta' was released end of 1997.

Amelina was also featured in a few Dangdut compilations i.e. 'Dang Dang Dut 1 & 2 '(both albums sold more than 300,000 copies) and 'Puteri Dangdut 1 & 2' (both albums sold more than 200,000 copies).

Amelina appeared in the recent Commonwealth 98' Games singing in the Pre-opening and the Closing Ceremony which was telecast 'live' all over the world.

 

M Nasir began his career in artistic and music scene after his graduation in Western Painting from The Nanyang Academy of fine Arts in Singapore. His compositions brought fame to popular local groups such as Alleycats, Sweet Charity and Flybaits. His song 'Kenangan Lalu' sung by Flybaits was covered and popularised in Tagalog in Philippines and also in Cantonese by popular Taiwanese singer, Teresa Teng. As a composer, his compositions are sought after by Malaysian artistes.

M Nasir also produced film music for screenplays such as 'Azura', 'Syakila', 'Abang '92', 'Balada', 'Simfoni Duniaku' and 'Merah'.

M Nasir recorded his debut album in 1981 and with the group Kembara, he released 7 albums. In 1990, he returned as a solo singer. His songs are a fusion of contemporary and traditional music. M Nasir recently released his newest album where he collaborated with Brad Parker, an American composer cum producer. His music is ethnically inclined and is well received judging from response from his albums sales, positive reviews from the media and his sell-out solo concerts.

M Nasir has also produced albums for Alleycats, Flybaits, Search, Wings, Bumiputera Rockers, Hattan and Rahim Maarof among others. His talent also spread to acting and directing in movies. Among others, he played the leading role in 'Fenomena', 'Selubung', 'Balada', 'Simfoni Duniaku', and 'Merah' in which he directed as well. The film 'Merah' won the Best Film award in the local TV Screen Awards and was selected to represent Malaysia in the East Asia Film Festival and Asia Pacific Film Festival in Korea in 1997.

He has represented Malaysia in the ASEAN Pop Song Festivals in Bangkok and Jakarta in 1982 and 1983 respectively. M Nasir also won many awards in the local Song Championship organised by a local TV station. In the history of this championship, M Nasir swpet 4 out of the 5 awards given in 1994 for the Best Pop Song, Best Malaysian Song, Best Performance and Best Song categories,. In 1995, he was given a special award for being the composer with the most compositions in the history of Music Music from 1985 to 1995.

Currently, M Nasir is busy producing albums, writing songs, scripts as well as being the director of his own publishing house, Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd. He has set up a 24 track-recording studio, Studio Ronggeng to cater for his productions as well as that of the public.
