Mac Chew Kok Yee

Chief Judge

 

Mac Chew was born in 1965. A graduate in Music Production & Engineering from the Berklee College of Music in 1986, he started work with the quartet 'Regent Four' at the Regent Hotel. After 9 months he proceeded to be a freelance musician and toured with numerous artistes such as Sheila Majid, Sharifah Aini, the late Sudirman, Zainal Abidin and many others.

Mac was also a member of the popular group 'Asia Beat'. He produced many local albums through out the late eighties until today. Since 1990, he started working with foreign artistes mainly from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan and has worked with Sandy Lam, Jonathan Lee, Winnie Hsin, Monday Michiru, Sandii Suzuki, Makoto Kubota, The Boom, Emil Chau, Jackie Chan, Chyi and many others. Currently, he is an in-house arranger for Rock Records Taiwan.

In 1991, he started his own production house Babyboss Studio Sdn Bhd with another local arranger, Jenny Chin. Mac Chew won the Best Arranger award in 1997 for Sheila Majid's album 'Embun' in the Malaysian Music Industry Awards. He is currently working on Sheila Majid's latest album.
