MACP, the Malaysian Society for Rights of Composers, Authors and Publishers of music was incorporated as a public company limited by guarantee in September 1989. It is established as a non-profit company to administer the public performance, broadcast and diffusion rights in musical and associated literary works, on behalf of its members.
Today, MACP has a membership of over 1,080 members comprising of composers, lyric writers, music publishers and their successors in title. It has in control and ownership in excess of 20,000 pieces of local musical works. In addition, by virtue of reciprocal agreements with other foreign performing societies, MACP also represents more than a million composers, lyricists and publishers and controls in Malaysia in excess over 12 million pieces of musical works from all over the world.
MACP is honoured to be a part of the Asia Song Festival Malaysia '99 to give support for original compositions and at the same time remembering the heritage of evergreen songs.
