MINORU ENDOH
Chairman,
Minoru Endoh Music Foundation
Minoru Endoh was born in 1932. In 1949, he came to Tokyo to study music. He wrote "Good Evening Dear Moon", his first hit and became a well-known composer in Japan. In 1965, he founded and became president of a record company called "Minoruphone". He wrote many hit songs such as "Waltz Under the Light of Star", "A Draught" and "Fellow Traveller". One of his biggest hits was "Spring in Northern Country", a smash hit not only in Japan but also in the East Asian countries. "Spring in Northern Country" is said to be appreciated by almost half a billion people.
In 1994, he founded Minoru Endoh Music Foundation and is its chairman. He was appointed Chairman of JASRAC, Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers in 1995.
In 1990, the Japanese Government awarded Minoru Endoh the "Purple Ribbon Medal". In 1996, he was awarded the "Broadcasting Culture Award" by NHK.
In 1998, he was presented a certificate of commendation by Japanese Minister of foreign Affairs, for his achievements abroad.
We are more than happy and honoured to be a co-sponsor of the 4th Asia Song Festival being held in Malaysia, the country led by a great leader, known as pro-Japanese, His Excellency The Premier Mahathir, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Music Authors' Copyright Protection (MACP) Berhad.
We would like to offer our heartfelt gratitude to MACP who has undertaken the hosting of the Festival despite the difficulties involved.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Mr Freddie Fernandez, Chairman of MACP, MS Chan Miew Lan, General Manager of MACP and all the Organising Committee members for their efforts that made this Festival possible.
It seems, as I look back past Asia Song Festivals, entry songs for Unpublished Song Contest have become more and more difficult. We hope contestants will present songs that are more simple and familiar enough for everyone to sing along. We look forward to meet the new songs that can be a borderless language with which we will be able to communicate with each other.
As I always say, "I Wish To Fill The World With Flowers Of Songs" is my soulful message for you all.
