2 Understand your Role
(1) Know your position
Government officials must clearly understand that as public servants, when they perform public administrative work they must retain the trust and confidence of the people. They should be fully aware of their position at all times and that they are acting on behalf of their agency when interacting with the public.
(2) Know your job
・Fully understand the contents of your job, and be clear about the scope of your responsibility.
・In executing your job, be clear about other related tasks; know what is which departments / sections responsibility and who is in charge.
・Fully understand the laws and work procedures related to your job.
・Be clear about which matters are within your power to make decisions on, and which ones require your boss' approval.
(3) Be conscious of your own strengths and weaknesses
Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses. By enhancing their strengths and correcting their weaknesses, a person may actively take steps to improving their own personality. By knowing themselves well, they may use their strengths to good advantage when interacting with the public, and avoid showing weaknesses.
(4) Be image conscious
How much do you know about yourself ? Very often, other people's impression of you is significantly different from your own self-image. It is essential to be conscious of how others view you, and work towards better public interaction by presenting more of your good side, and playing down the bad.
