(3) Situation of Work

Laissez-faire is appropriate for standard or regular tasks while participation may be utilized in creative work such as planning and implementing new programs. Laissez-faire, for example, is good for menial work such as typing or making copies while participation or indeed a command style is more appropriate for important work such as creating material that will be presented to the top executives of the organization. With participation, action takes time to implement. For urgent matters to be solved, a command style of leadership is more appropriate.
