IMPROVEMENT PROCESS

 

The following process has been found to be effective in improving the quality of work.

 

1 Understand, Analyze and Review the Current Situation

 

(1) Investigate the situation thoroughly and record the result.

(2) Analyze these records. Utilize charts and graphs to build a clearer picture of the situation.

(3) Review any problems that may have come to light, decide which direction must be taken to solve these and set targets accordingly.

 

2 Ideas and Plans for a Solution

(1) Think of ideas as to how to solve the problem.

(2) From these ideas, build a concrete plan.

(3) Taking the opinions of people concerned into account, review the final plan.

 

3 Make Preparations for the Implementation of the Plan

(1) Obtain consent for the plan from the authorities concerned.

(2) Ensure that the plan is granted official authorization.

(3) Provide members of staff with all the necessary instructions.

(4) Raise the funds and resources necessary to implement the plan.

 

4 Implement the Plan

(1) Implement changes according to the plan. Where appropriate, implement the plan on a trial basis at first.

(2) Ensure that the plan is implemented in full across the entire organization including all sections concerned.

 

5 Review the Result

 

(1) Draw up a comparison of the situation before and after implementing the plan.

(2) If improvement fails to materialize, investigate the reason and revise the plan.

(3) Analyze what further improvements could be made.
