In the present survey, the number of fecal specimens collected in the three barangays are as follows：

All the specimens have been preserved in formalin-detergent solution to examine for schistosome infection in the laboratory of Dokkyo University School of Medicine.

　

A total of 353 field rats were caught by village volunteers in the three barangays and sacrificed by cervical dislocation. At autopsy, the liver, mesenteric and portal veins were thoroughly examined for flukes and foci due to schistosome infection, and the results obtained are as follows：
