Objectives.

 

Although member organisations may define their own individual aims and objectives, they agree to adhere in spirit and in practice to the following:

 

a. To encourage young people towards high personal standards, teamwork and a sense of responsibility to the community through the medium of disciplined nautical training and development of leadership qualities.

 

b. To develop in young people an appreciation of the importance of the sea to international commerce, defence, and protection of the environment.

 

2. OBJECTIVES OF THE ISCA

 

2.1 The objectives of the ISCA are:

 

a. To create provisions for international and intercultural understanding, goodwill and

friendship among young people who have an interest in maritime and naval activities.

 

b. Provide a medium for exchange of Sea Cadets between member organisations.

 

c. Resist infiltration of politically motivated or militaristic organisations into the international Sea Cadet movement.

 

d. Provide a forum for exchange of ideas, experience and knowledge about applied methods, and for the evaluation of future needs of the organisations and their members.

 

e. Encourage the formation world‐wide of organisations based on the Sea Cadet concept.

 

f. To strive for financial support for the exchange programme of the member organisations.

 

3. MEMBERSHIP OF THE ISCA

 

3.1 Limitation.

 

Membership of the Association is limited to one per nation. To be eligible for membership the applicant organisation must be linked to maritime or naval activities in one way or another, and be prepared to abide by the concepts of the ISCA laid down in these Articles.
