Japanese comments on ISO/DIS 15370： Ships and marine technology - Low location lightning on passenger ships
1. Annex A4.1
Whilst A4.1 specifies a color temperature of 2 700｡? for a tubular fluorescent lamp, the base and definition thereof are unclear. Therefore, we hope that the specifying on the color temperature of a fluorescent lamp (the current expression of A4.1 "a tubular fluorescent lamp having a color temperature of 2 700｡?") be deleted and in its place the expression "a fluorescent lamp actually used" be adopted.
Additionally, in the U.K. and Japan, fluorescent lamps of a color temperature of 4 000｡? are in use.
2. Annex E Chart and table based on formula ： LW4 =6 300
The base for the formula LW4 = 6 300 is unclear.
The luminance value of e.g. a specimen of a width of no less than 75 mm is required to be at least 15 mcd/m2 by the provisions of IMO resolution A.752 (18). The luminance value in this case can be obtained from the following formula：
luminance (mcd/m2)= 2 x width of a specimen (mm)
With a PL strip width being 75 mm, sufficient luminance is ensured. Therefore, it is thought that the above formula suffices. The formula LW4 = 6 300, the base of which is unknown, should be deleted.
