5. Programme of work
1) Published standards (8):
.1 ISO 799'1986, Shipbuilding - Pilot ladders; in revision, sub-stage 20.99. Final editing in progress to distribute for formal ballot and CD registration.
.2 ISO 5488:1979, Shipbuilding - Accommodation ladders.
.3 ISO 5489:1986, Shipbuilding - Embarkation ladders; periodical review 1996. A fax was sent to the ISO Central Secretariat 1997-10-15, requesting a copy of the ISO CS letter of 1996-07-15 (which we are unable to locate but which apparently contained the member body voting summary for the periodic review enquiry). We have not received a response to this fax, and so have been unable to generate a decision concerning whether the standard should be confirmed, revised, or withdrawn on the basis of the periodical review. However, WG 2 has reviewed the standard and decided to develop a new work item proposal to revise it based on their work on similar standards.
Preparation and circulation of the NWIP is pending.
.4 ISO/TR 6065:1991, Shipbuilding and marine structures -- Inflatable liferafts - Materials.
.5 ISO 6067:1985, Shipbuilding and marine structures Winches for lifeboats; periodical review 1996, currently revision, sub-stage 20.20. This standard is problematical. On the basis of a proposal by China, a new work item consolidating the revision of ISO 6067 with the continuation of work started under (cancelled) ISO/CD 6066-1 and 6066-2 was developed and registered as ISO/NP 15516 Ships and marine technology - Launching appliances for davit-launched lifeboats, on the work programme of SC 4. TC 8 resolution 154 from the last plenary meeting in Hamburg registerated that this work would be a joint effort of SC 1 and SC 4, under the administrative control of SC 4. At the same meeting, TC 8 urged SC 4 to send out its WD immedimely. SC 1 nominated a representative to this effort at its March 1997 plenary meeting. However, we have yet to be provided a working draft or be notified of any progress or plan for progress. SC 4 proposed to the June AG meeting in Lisbon that it circulate its draft as a CD rather than a WD, which would seem premature since as far as we are aware, the current WD has not been distributed outside of China. SC 4 also notified the AG of its intention to defer its next plenary meeting until 1999. The AG decided to instruct SC 4 to immediately distribute its current working draft for
