Additional report of ISO/TC 81SC 6 "Navigation"
(1) ISO/CD 613 (Magnetic compasses, binnacles and azimuth reading devices - Class B：06.02) and ISO/CD 11674 (Heading control systems：06.12)
The subject CDs were put into electronic files prepared With the ISO template, and sent to ISO/CS (Central Secretariat) as the text of ISO/DIS 613 and ISO/DIS 11674.
There is an agreement between IEC/TC80 and ISO/TC 8/SC 6 that ISO/DIS 11674 should be made into an ISO/IEC joint international standard (this problem was communicated to ISO/CS and the secretariat of ISO/TC 8 at the time of consideration of ISO/TR 11674). Therefore, we asked Mr. Abram, ISO/CS, to talk with IEC/CO (Central Office) about the procedure of voting for CDV in the system of IEC (which is a counterpart of ISO/DIS).
(2) ISO/CD 694 (Positioning of magnetic compasses in ships： 06.03)
We have the subject CD (amended by taking into account the opinions submitted by various countries regarding CD 694) and relevant materials, which were sent to us recently by Mr. Uhlig, the convener of this matter. After confirming the contents of the text, we will prepare an electronic file with the ISO template and send it to ISO/CS as the text of ISO/DIS 694.
(3) ISO/CD 11606 (Marine electromagnetic compasses：06.11) and ISO/CD 16328 (Gyro-compasses for high speed craft：06.16)
It was agreed from the result of voting by SC 6 members, with regard to the subject CDs, that the consideration of the draft at the next stage should be DIS.
The SC 6 secretariat is now in the middle of the amendment work of both drafts with opinions by various countries as basis. The SC 6 secretariat is scheduled to prepare a DIS electronic file with the ISO template for storing the contents of the DISs and send it to ISO/CS in November.
ISO/CD 16329 (Heading control systems for high speed craft) is under the work for preparing the 2nd CD 16329, and it is expected that it will be circulated to SC members in November.
(4) ISO/WD 16273： Performance requirements for night vision equipment for HSC [06.19]
Mr. Schade, the convener for the subject item has given us the working draft (WD) and related materials. With these documents as basis for discussion, an SC 6/WG 5 meeting is to be held on 10th February, 1999 in Hamburg, to consider the WD.
(5) Navigational chart [06.17]
It was decided at the TC 81AG Lisbon meeting that Mr. Abram was to be assigned responsibility for carrying out the procedural arrangements with IHB (International Hydrographic Bureau) in making IHO Specification M-4 into ISO standards. The SC 6 secretariat has no report on further progress in this area from Mr. Abram. Therefore, we wish to have Mr. Abram's report on the progress.
