5.3 Possible proposals for new work items
CEN/TC 15 proposed that ISO/TC 8 should approve the following European standards on inland navigation vessels, developed by CEN/TC 15, as ISO standards in accordance with the Vienna Agreement： EN 526, EN 711, EN 790, EN1914, EN 929, EN 1255, EN 1502 and pr EN 12827.
BY the Resolution 157 of 16th plenary meeting of ISO/TC 8 (Hamburg, 1997-10-21/22) this work was committed to the ISO/TC8/SC7. Because of doubts arising in the secretariat of ISO/TC 8/SC 7 concerning possibility of direct approving of these EN standards as ISO standards (see item 5 of Exception-report of secretariat of SC 7 to the 26th meeting of Advisory Group of ISO/TC 8,Lisbon, 1998-06-11/12-doc. ISO/TC 8 AG N 505, Annex 7) this subject was discussed at the 26th meeting of Advisory Group of ISO/TC 8 (see doc. ISO/TC 8 AG N 511 dated 1998-O4-29, item 7 and doc. ISO/TC 8 AG N 513/8 N 919 dated 1998-06-25, pages 4 and 5 and also doc. ISO/TC 8 AG N 506 dated 1998-04-29, Annex A and P).
Representatives of the secretariat of SC 7 (and Russian Federation) did not attend this meeting of AG. Unfortunately because of technical and financial roubles neither Chairman of SC 7,nor representatives of secretariat of SC 7, nor representatives of Russian Federation could also attend the 17th plenary meeting of ISO/TC 8 in Maldon.
Secretariat of ISO/TC 8/SC 7 perceives positively criticism of its work noted in doc. ISO/TC 8 AG N 513/8 N 919 and suggests to apply to P-members of SC 7 with the proposal to discuss EN standards developed by CEN/TC 15 with a view of adoption of them as ISO standards. However, at this moment secretariat of SC 7 has no available EN 526, 711, 790, 929, 1255 and 1502. Booklet with these Standards was sent by secretariat of SC 7 to ISO/CS in 1996, Mr. Abram with a purpose to begin the process of their discussing between the members of SC7 from the stage ISO/DIS EN (the letter of secretariat of SC 7 dated 1996-04-18.
