1 In response to MSC/Circ.694 adopted on 1 June 1995, which recommended Member Governments to conduct inspections of containers based on the Container Inspection Programmes (CIP), the Japanese authority has conducted the inspections in relevant areas.
2 Containers imported and packed with dangerous goods were selected for inspections in our ports. To date the inspections have been conducted in Yokohama, Osaka, and Kobe areas only, however, areas covered by the Inspection Programmes will be expanded in the near future.
3 The results of the inspections are given in the annex.
