Congratulatory Speech
First, allow me to offer my congratulations on the holding of the Grand Sixth Sumo World Championship at the Ryogoku Kokugikan with the finest rikishi from around the world.
The Japan Sumo Association strives to promote and contribute Sumo to its development as one of Japan's traditional sports. Our task is to pass on the sport of Sumo to future generations, which has become an integral part of the Japanese way of life. We have engaged in several projects to introduce this magnificent sumo culture overseas. It is receiving more and more recognition from all over the world, thereby leading to the internationalization of Sumo.
The International Sumo Federation has endeavored to develop Sumo globally. It is with great enthusiasm that the ISF has continued its efforts to go beyond international and ethnic boundaries, making the Sixth Sumo World Championship a success. From the bottom of my heart I express my wish to make this championship an event that will contribute to international and mutual understanding.
The Japan Sumo Association is determined to support the continuity of this event. I conclude my speech with a sincere request to all concerned parties for further support for this event in the future. Thank you very much.
