Control Moment Gyro Stabilizer
An anti-rolling system for small ships utilizing the principle of the gyroscope has been developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and offered to the market.
This system is composed of a rotor revolving at high speed and its motor mounted in gimbals supporting the rotor motor. The assembly is stable in all axis and allows the production of an anti- rolling moment in response to the rolling of the ship.
The system is of a simple structure without a sensor or control circuit and also has the feature that it can be installed freely and any vacant space can be efficiently utilized since there is no restriction as to the place for installation.
At present, two systems having following specifications are available.
