know-how-based constraints.
3. CAD data
JNEST+ requires geometric data and substantial attribute data of all parts. These data can be obtained from HICADEC-H (indicating the CAD system for hull structure design developed by Hitachi Zosen) via an intermediate file. The reason why JNEST+ uses an intermediate file is to consider the connectivity with other CAD systems for selling it in the future. Figure 1 shows a processing flow chart to obtain the result of nesting.
4. Results
JNEST+ can treat whole parts in an assembly block at one time. Figure 2,3 and 4 each shows the result of nesting 470 parts on 35 material steel plates by the use of JNEST+. The through put time to obtain these results was approximately one hour. JNEST+ ran on SUN SPARC10 (64 M bite memories). According to Figure 3, the scrap ratio was better than that produced by a human specialist.
