TAKASAGO, a Pure Car and Truck Carrier for 5,830 Car Capacity
Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. has built the Pure Car and Truck Carrier TAKASAGO having 5,830 car capacity at Oppama Shipyard. The vessel was delivered to Wilhelmsen Lines AS in December 1996.
The vessel meets the latest demand for carring various type of car, truck and complete knockdown sets (CKD).
The vessel was classified as Det Norske Veritas, +1A1, Car Carrier (MCDK, SC), E0 and registered by Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS).
Features
1. The vessel has twelve car decks including five liftable car decks, and one upper-deck car space.
2. The vessel has one stern ramp and one side ramp for car loading and unloading. Two loaded 40-ton trailers and two 20-ton empty trailers can be driven on the stern ramp at the same time.
3. An electric motor-driven bow thruster of 1,200kW is installed for assisting the vessel maneuvering in port.
4. The veseel satisfies the SOLAS '90, "Subdivision and damage stability of Cargo Ships" and '92 Amendments.
