ARCADIA HIGHWAY, Car Carrier for 5,000 Vehicles
The ARCADIA HIGHWAY 5,000 units car carrier was delivered in January 1995 to Cardinal Enterprise by Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. It carries passenger and commercial autos, large buses, heavy vehicles, and complete knock-down sets (CKD). The 11 decks and one upper deck car space on the ARCADIA HIGHWAY, including 4 liftable car decks, are provided for loading large vehicles and CKD sets.
The carrier has one stern ramp and two side ramps operated by electro-hydraulic winches with one- person control at car loading and unloading ports.
An electric motor-driven bow thruster with a thrust of 14 tons is fitted on the bow for easy berthtrig. To comply with NK and M0 classification standards, a 24-hour unattended machinery space system is provided.
The main engine can be remotely controlled from the bridge control console and operated on heavy fuel oil with a viscosity of up to 380 cst.
