OOCL CALIFORNIA was completed at the Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. on Aug. 29, 1995.
She is the first of six container carriers ordered by Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (SHI) who are jointly building them.
The design was developed by MHI and applied to all the vessels built by MHI and SHI.
Features
1) Lashing bridge system is applied for easier lashing work.
2) On-deck cell guide is provided above aft mooring deck.
3) 45' container can be loaded on deck at every forward bay of hold.
4) One man bridge system is provided and the vessel is registered with ABS OMBO notation.
