1,498-TEU Container Carrier ITHA BHUM
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), Shimonoseki Shipyard & Machinery Works completed and delivered a 1,498TEU container vessel, ITHA BHUM to Regional Container Lines Public Co., Ltd. on August 20th, 1996.
ITHA BHUM is now satisfactory engaging in her feeder services between Singapore and Australia.
ITHA BHUM is the first of three sister vessels developed by MHI as most modernized feeder service container ship intended to transport 1,498TEU containers.
There are many remarkable features in the design of ITHA BHUM that enable the owner and the crews to have various advantages and merits as listed below:
*Large number of homogenious loaded containers with excellent stability performance fully complied with new damage stability requirements.
*Operational merits such as carriage of dangerous goods of almost all categories, very high stack load on hatch cover and top of engine room, numbers of reefer plugs on deck, etc.
*Very low daily fuel oil consumption in spite of high speed and large deadweight, and availability of mono-fuel for main engine and auxiliaries.
*Less-maintenance work and no dry dock for 5 years by applying in-water survey, central cooling system by fresh water, seamless pipe, long year anti-fouling paint and so on.
