The 89,000-dwt bulk carrier SUIREI MARU was built at the Sakaide Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. and delivered to Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd., EPDC Marine Co., EPDC Overseas Coal Co. and Kobe Nippon Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. in May, 1996.
Features
1. The ship, which carries coal in bulk, has five (5) cargo holds. Two (2) cargo hatches are installed on each of Nos. 2, 4 and 5 long cargo holds to improve efficiency of cargo loading and unloading.
2. A low-speed, long-stroke, fuel- efficient main diesel engine, Kawasaki-MAN B & W6S60MC, and a large diameter propeller is equipped for energy-saving.
3. Vibration is eliminated by a KHI developed damp tank in the aft peak tank, which reduces the propeller exciting force.
4. Mono-fuel system for fueling the main engine and generator engines is adopted.
