A 35,000m3 Multi Purpose LPG Carrier

The 35,000m3 multi purpose LPG carrier is built at Nagasaki Shipyard and Machinery Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and shall be delivered to Blackbeard Shipping Ltd. in April 1997.

The ship is MHI's first multi purpose LPG carrier built on their advanced technology through their experience with building as many as 37 LPG carriers in the past. The ship has been designed to carry many kinds of cargo, i.e. propane, butane, propylene, butadiene, anhydrous ammonia, butylene and VCM.

The ship is a flush decker with bulbous bow and transom stern.

The engine room and the accommodation space are located aft. The reliquefaction plant room is arranged on upper deck and the cargo control room is located on top of the motor room.

Three independent prismatic cargo tanks with polyurethane insulation are installed in the hold space.

The cargo handling machinery equipment and pipings are designed for simultaneous handling and transportation of two kinds of cargo. Each cargo tank is provided with two electrically motor driven deepwell pumps.

Two deck tanks are installed on the upper deck for the purpose of easy cargo conversion during voyage.

For the purpose of energy saving, MHI's refined lines and Mitsubishi Reaction Fin are adopted.
