Statistical coordination to facilitate economic and social planning and evaluation of plan implementation on one hand, and among statistical producers and other users on the other hand is not yet established systematically. Regarding policy in statistical development, it is not found as main theme for national practice in development plans.
3. ENRA Efforts And Data Required In Thailand
3.1 ENRA Awareness And Efforts
Awareness of natural resource depletion and environmental degradation has become critical social issues since 1980s. It is mentioned and cautioned about negative impacts in late of the 5th NESDP. Impacts from industrial development which deteriorated urban environment and mismanagement of natural resources particularly forest and land utilization are considered as constraints of sustainable development. In the 8th NESDP environment problem are taken up as one of the main national target beside human development and economic competition.
In the preparation of the 7th NESDP studies (mainly made by Thailand Development Research Institute : TDRI) supporting environmental plan revealed socio-economic and environmental perspective. Besides policy, strategies, and measures, the studies contained valuation of magnitude of environmental problems with suggestions for data development. For government institutional arrangement, Office of National Environmental Planning was split into 3 independent departments under Ministry of Sciences and Technology namely (1) Office of Environmental Policy and Planning.
