(g) Bridge pier footing (pile head)

Concrete is cast with a concrete pump for bridge pier footing. The complete footing is cast with a single form. Starters will be prepared for bridge pier construction.

(h) Compaction

The ground surface of the footing approach is filled with cobblestones and compacted by percussion.

(i) Macadamization

The ground surface of the footing approach is macadamized.

 

(2) Construction of bridge pier, protection wall and abutment

(a) Forms of special design with a cover are manufactured to construct bridge piers having the same geometrical profile in the longitudinal direction of track. Architectural profiles such as vertical engraving will give an aesthetic value to the pier surface.

(b) Concrete pumps expedite construction work.

 

(3) Upper structure Incremental Launching Girder Method)

(a) Fan-type segment forms are prepared.

(b) Segments are manufactured at a factory.

(c) Segment concrete is cured.

(d) Deck slabs are prestressed in the lateral direction.

(e) Segments (weighing 20 tons or less) are transported to the site and temporarilystored.

(f) A supporting stand is placed on the bridge pier and abutment.

(g) Segments are installed for each span, one by one, using a launching girder.

(i) Other segments are transported to the site.

(ii) Segments are raised to an upright posture and placed on the launching girder by crane.

(iii) Segments are positioned at specific locations using strands dropped from the launching girder.

(iv) Segments are bonded to 3-m width adjustment members.

(v) All segments are placed at specific locations using the launching girder.

(vi) Tendons are inserted through segment ducts.
