And on the Phase 1, the construction of a part of facilities at the Binnamangala depot shall be postponed, because the number of vehicle are small.
(2) Assignments of Vehicle Depot
It is desirable to centralize various vehicle depot functions, in that the Binnamangala vehicle depot shall perform major maintenance work and the Yashwantpur vehicle depot shall perform other maintenance work. The other two vehicle depot shall mainly be used for storing cars.
(3) Maintenance Plan
The organization of maintenance depends on the concept of services to be provided to passengers. If safe and reliable transport is a prerequisite; maintenance is most important. This requires reasonable and proper organization of maintenance supported by sufficient budgets and human resources to implement efficient maintenance. Managing spare parts is another important subject for ef8cient maintenance.
A system shall be introduced to control data on failure and maintenance history. It is also recommended that maintenance be performed in conjunction with the manufacturers of rolling stock and equipment.
(4) Countermeasures against Ground Settlement
The sites of vehicle depots are damp and subject to settlement. This requires sufficient countermeasures. If a building floors subsides, maintenance work on vehicle depot will be disturbed. Foundation Piles shall be driven and floors shall be reinforced with numerous beams.
7.7.3 Electrical System
The electrical systems such as traction power, signaling and communication to be installed in Phase 1 should be designed and installed as aforementioned.
Due consideration should be taken into the locations, functions and capacity available physically and functionally for not only the scope of Phase l project but also the total systems to be established in the final stage, especially for substation equipment and the central control units such as CTC, Train Describer, PCM carrier Public Address and CCTV systems, including system consoles, to be installed at the Control Center.
