stations, surface concourse to 29 stations, parking to eight stations and joint development to 13 stations.
(2) Classification of Stations by Design
There are three physical types of station structure depending on lerative position of concourse against platform, i.e. underslung, overslung and at-grade. The concourse of an at-grade station is at ground level.
According to the available information, 49 stations will be underslung and 36 stations will be the at-grade. All stations constructed in Phase 1 will be underslung.
The underslung stations will be composed of the PC guirders mentioned above and two-layer portal rigid frame structures. Platforms will be between inbound and outbound tracks, which are called island platforms in Japan. Platforms will be 6.1 m wide and 125 m long to accommodate four-car trains in the future. The central area of the platform will be covered with a roof 12 m wide and 25 m long.
The area of the concourse on the mezzanine f1oor is about 700 m2 to accommodate various station facilities. The exterior of station buildings will be finished with concrete or granite produced indigenously. Stations will be provided with emergency evacuation routes. Stations will be equipped with lavatories for station staff only but not for passengers.
(3) Escalator and elevator
Appendix 6.2-1, 6.2-2, and 6.2-3 show examples of standard station designs.
(a) Escalators
Escalators of the normal specification shall be installed for the convenience of passengers on elevated railways, in particular. More escalators shall be installed at stations with a number of staircases or which are used by numerous passengers than at other stations.
At each station, an escalator shall be installed between the public road and the level of concourse and another between the concourse and the platform. More escalators shall be installed at large stations than at small stations.
Number of Escalators
(i) Phase I (24 stations)
Height of f1oor: 6 m (concourse to platform)
1 set x 24 stations = 24 sets
Height of f1oor: 7 m (ground to concourse)
1 set x 24 stations = 24 sets
Plus 2 sets x 4 stations = 8 sets
