(3) Cross-Sectional Transport Volume between Stations

Transport demand used will be that for Phase 1 route in 2011 under the condition that the whole LR.T network will be completed in 2011.

The maximum transport volume, 13,691 passengers per hour per direction during peak hours (8:30 to 10:30), can be observed over the section from Malleswaram to Rajajinagar. (Fig 5.2-2)

(4) Plan for Train Operation

We established a train operation system as follows by considering the capacity of shuttling facilities and different transport demands at different sections.

We assumed that one train is composed of two cars and transports 800 passengers during peak hours. Trains shall be operated at intervals of 3 minutes and 30 seconds during peak hours at the most crowded sections and at intervals of 7 minutes at peripheral sections.

As a result the load factor, or the ratio of number of passengers to passenger capacity is 126% at sections with the highest transport demand.

Table 5.2-3 shows train frequencies and headways during peak hours at different sections. Figure 5.2-2 shows cross-sectional transport demand and transport capacities during peak hours set for different sections,
