TRACTI0N POWER SUPPLY will be 750 volt DC supplied through a third rail near the track. . Overhead catenary systems have not been adopted on considerations of safety and aesthetics. High voltaic power supply infeed may be at 11 kV or 33 kV depending on the grid. The total power requirements for the full system is estimated to be about 65 MVA.

SIGNALLING & TELEC0MMUNICATION Computerised signalling, with centralised traffic control, incorporating SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) system, fibre-optic communication links and centralised computer control of all ELRTS systems are envisaged'

FARB COLLECTION Automatic computerised fare collection and ticket gates incorporating stored value cards are envisaged

VIBRATI0N & NOISE Typically modern LRVs have an operating noise level of 65-70 dBA at 15 m which is well below the current ambient noise levels in the City (75-92 dBA). Noise and vibration from the LRTS will be minimised to the maximum extent possible. However introduction. of the LRTS and the consequent reduction of road traffic will significantly decrease ambient noise levels in the city.
