Examination of Sleeper Spacing

 

1. According to UBTSL,sleeper spacing is proposed as 1200〜1400 pieces/km. From the view point of track strength sufficient to support LRT train running, sleeper spacing of 1200〜1400 pieces/km namely,71.4〜83.3cm were examined.

 

2. Preconditions

 

(a) Rail

UIC 54 Rail weight=54.4kg/m

Ix=2346cm4 (2nd sectional moment of rail)

Zx=313cm3 (sectional coefficient)

 

(b) Train speed

Vmax=75km/h

 

(c) Train loading condition (for one wheel each)
