Jaya

Jaya started as a backup dancer for her mother, Elizabeth Ramsey. In 1988, she moved to New York from California and worked as a backup vocalist and musician in Steive B.'s band. In February 1989, she signed a record deal with LMR Records (New York).

 

Jaya's song "If You Leave Me Now" reached the Top 40 in the Billboard Charts. She has worked with top recording artists such as Stevie B., M.C. Hammer, James Ingram, the Jets and Young M.C.

 

In the 1996 Metropop Song Festival, she sang "Sometimes You Just Know" and was awarded the coveted Grand Prize. Her second single, "Dahil Tanging Ikaw", was awarded the Septuple Platinum Record Award. During last year's Asia Song Festival in Hong Kong. Jaya was awarded the Best Performer as well as the Grand Prize for the song "You Lift Me Up" composed by Danny Tan and written by Dodjie Simon. She won the Best New Artist and Album of the Year awards in the Annual People's Choice Awards 1997, the Most Promising Female Singer Performer at the 27th Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc., the best Pop Recording Artist, Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist and Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist awards at the 10th PARI Awit Awards, 1997.

 

Her Second album entitled "Jaya...In The Raw" was released in 1997 and was awarded the Platinum Award for "Wala Na Bang Pag-lbig." Jaya was awarded the Best New Artist, Best R&B Vocal Performance and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance on the 3rd KATHA Music Awards last October 25, 1997.

Gary Valenciano is a singer, composer, dancer, actor, musical arranger, musical producer and musician. He believes in the power of music to influence lives.

 

He first appeared on television in 1982. The response to his performances was overwhelming. From his very first concert, "Gary V: A-Live in 1984 to MOVE! in 1994&1995. Gary has brought his audience to their feet with his energetic numbers. His venues are always fully packed with the audience spilling into the aisles. He has also performed numerous times abroad in Asia, the Middle East and the United States.

 

Gary has recorded thirteen long playing albums of which ten have become gold. Five albums have reached the double platinum mark: "Faces of Love", "From Gary, Merry Christmas", "Hataw Na", "Moving Thoughts" and "Shout For Joy". The last two albums mentioned went on further, hitting the triple platinum mark. In 1992, he had recorded the album "Dancin' in the Moonlight." with Toshiba-EMI Records in Japan. In 1995, he released "Out of the Dark," a Christian contemporary music album in the United States and received outstanding reviews for his artistry. His Asian Album, "Outside Looking In" for Polygram Records was released in 1997.

 

Gary has received numerous awards for his performances, recordings and compositions locally. He was given a special Asian Award at the Tokyo Music Festival. He also received the first Desert Inn International Entertainer of the Year Award when he performed for two sold-out nights at the Sheraton Desert Inn in Las Vegars.

Gary has also composed and recorded movie theme songs which have received awards from the movie industry.

 

As an actor, his performances have also been cited. He received the New Movie Actor of 1991 from the Star Awards. He has received a Best Actor Nomination for his permanence in "Kung Natapos Na Ang Kailanman". He won "Best Actor in a Single Performance" for GMA Telesine in the Star Awards for Television in 1994.

 

As a musical arranger, he has arranged most of his recent releases in recording. He also musically scored most of the arrangements for the English Christian OPM musicale "First name". He was also responsible for the musical scoring for the Christian film "Hinugot Sa Dilim".
