第2回東京世界女子空手道選手権大会
LADIES’INTERNATINONAL KARATE CUP IN TOKYO '97
空手道は、日本古来の伝統ある武道として、日本ばかりでなく世界各国・地域に飛躍的な普及発展を遂げてまいりました。これは空手道が心身の鍛練に役立つだけでなく、人格形成のための価値ある教育手段であることが世界の人々に認められたからであります。
現在、世界のあらゆる地域に普及しております空手道は160ヵ国及び地域が、世界空手連盟(WKF)に加盟し、約3000万人の人々が空手道に親しんでおります。
今般第2回東京世界女子空手道選手権大会をわが国で開催することは空手道の普及はもちろんのこと、特に女子空手界にとりまして世界的な技術の向上並びに普及発展につながるものであり、また空手道を通じて国際交流・国際親善に寄与し、併せて世界の人々の健康レクリエーションの発展向上に貢献するものであります。
近年、女子選手の進出活動は目覚ましく、どの大会にも大変な人気を集め、また技術的にも大変な進歩を遂げ、華麗で見事な技を見せております。
1985年、台北において第1回女子世界空手道選手権大会を開催したころは、参加国及び地域は13ヵ国・地域でしたが、ここ数年で、すばらしい飛躍をとげ、現在では80以上の国及び地域が女子空手道を取り入れております。
1995年の第1回大会は23ヵ国及び地域が参加しました。成績は、日本選手団が全7種目中、5種目に優勝し、三村選手の形競技はもちろんのこと、組手競技においても藤岡、鍋城選手の新人選手が大活躍をし、空手道発祥の地の実力を見せつけました。
世界空手連盟(WKF)と全日本空手道連盟(JKF)の主催する第2回大会も、世界各国々及び地域から、約30ヵ国・地域300余名の世界のトップクラスの選手たちが、世界一を目指します。爽やかな競技態度と高度なテクニックを駆使しての緊張感溢れる白熱した試合を展開し、また、女性特有の華やかさが観客並びに私たち国民に、喜びと感動を与えてくれるものと信じております。
さらに本大会は、日本の誇るべきスポーツ文化イベントとして、今後オリンピック参加を軸に大きな飛躍が期待されています。
As a traditional Japanese martial art Karatedo has made rapid progress not only in Japan but also all over the world, showing that Karatedo is acknowledged everywhere as a valuable educational approach to the building of character.
Membebership of the World Karate Federation has extended to 160 countries and regions, and no less than 40 million people are now practicing Karate.
The success of the 2nd Ladies' International Karate Cup will surely lead to the further development of Karatedo, in particular Ladies' Karatedo, because it provides a great opportunity to improve the karate techniques of female competitors. Certainly this will also contribute to international friendship and cultural exchange.
Recently, more and more spectators at every tournament have been thrilled by the outstanding techniques of the female competitors. The First Women's Karate Tournament was held in Taipei in 1985 with 13 countries and regions participating.Since then, Karate has been spreading among women，and now more than 80 countries and regions include Ladies’Karate. In 1995, the First Ladies' International Karate Cup was held in Tokyo, and 23 countries and regions participated in this event. The Japanese team carried away five gold medals among seven categories.Ms. Mimura demonstrated magnificent kata，and also new competitors, such as Ms. Fujioka and Ms.Nabeki did well in the Kumite competition, and showed skills befitting of the birthplace of Karatedo.
Three hundred top level athletes from about 30 countries and regions will compete at this championship organised by the World Karate Federation and the Japan Karatedo Federation.We may be sure that each competitor will demonstrate their high level of technique and that the climax of the competition will provide some thrills and some satisfaction to every spectator and to the nation.
We firmly expect that this magnificent sports event will be a great help for the further prosperity of Karatedo and we look forward to the inclusion of Karatedo into the Olympics.
