4 The Mechanization and Systemization of Inspection
Technical advances in the mechanization and automation of inspection aim at a labor-saving
inspection system that is clean, safe, and easy to carry out.
Some of the newly developed devices are introduced below.
(1) System for managing rolling stock (Fig. 2-5)
This is a subsystem of the general transport system and is used for centrally managing the data conceming the rolling stock obtained at individual depots. It includes the following four functions:
Rolling stock ledger Data base of the dimensions and facilities of the individual cars and results of inspections of the main equipment, etc.
Record of use Data base of the running km and other statistics on use of the rolling stock
Record of breakdowns: Data base of information on breakdowns of the rolling stock Plans for inspection : System for assisting the preparation of plans for inspection of rolling stock from various data
