The amount of investment was roughly calculated in the manner shown in Table 5-10, based on the premise of the facilities and rolling stock plan described in 5.5.
Investment in the alternative plan is considerably (75.7 million rand) greater than in the existing plan, however, this is the result of the train service frequency being reduced from 10 minutes to 3.5 minutes and more or less reflects the difference brought about by the additional rolling stock required. Facilities-related investment is more or less the same.
