PROGRAMME FOR LEVEL 3.

The pilot training has been divided into three categories, see appendix 1

Category 1: This caters for the people already in the system who have tugmasters or ferrymasters and have the potential to become pilots.

Category 2: This category is for students who go directly to sea after obtaining "O" or "A" level. They will have to satisfy the seatime requirement of 36 months and after obtaining their class 3 certificate of competency could proceed for pilot training.

Category 3. This category is for students who enter the academy directly for the pre-sea course after obtaining their Advanced Level ( A level). They will proceed to sea after 18 months in the academy and then after satisfying their seatime requirements, will have to obtain their class three certificate of competency before entering into pilot training. See Table 3

The academy will recommend category 3 for establishments who will like to recruit new entrants for pilot training. The 18 months sea training will give them the experience and adequate knowledge on ship operation and the operation of navigation equipment.
