VIETNAM MARITIME EDUCATION AND TRAINING (MET)

ABSTRACT

 

The maritime education and training (MET) is a main concern not only of one country but also of the international community because, the MET is influenced by many factors and it also does influence on many other aspects such as a safety at sea, the environment protection and so on.

The seafarer's role in marine safety and pollution provention is unique. He is closer to the problem than any one else involved. Therefore, there raises a question that how there can help him to face with this problem most effectively, off course there is no other method than the appropriate maritime education and training program.

In Vietnam, it is considered that the maritime education and training of seafarers is most important pattern to perform a role and a character of a seafarer in the future, therefore the paper is concerned with:

- The present MET in Vietnam, its strength and weekness.

- The MET which direction has to be developed to meet the national and the international requirements.
