Development of a new harmonized UN Pressure Vessel Test

Transmitted by the experts from Japan and the Netherlands

During the 1993/94 biennium, attempts were made to come to one harmonized United Nations Pressure Vessel Test (UNPVT), by combining the United States Pressure Vessel Test (USPVT) and the Dutch Pressure Vessel Test (DPVT). However, it appeared that a lot of difficulties had to be solved, and development of a UNPVT was carried forward to the 1995/96 biennium.

At its meeting in Berlin in May/June 1995, the OECD-IGUS-EOS Working Group discussed the way forward in developing a harmonized UNPVT. A Netherlands proposal to form an ad hoc working group was accepted.
