It was agreed to perform independent tests in different laboratories within the next months, in order to have a closer look at the problems encountered during the discussions. The list of materials to be tested includes four organic peroxides, one self-reactive substance and one stable energetic substance. Futhermore, the Japanese documents concerning the MCPVT will be studied and discussed.

When the experimental work with MTEVT and MCPVT is complete, the choice of which method will be proposed to the UN will be based on the comparison of criteria which are included in the list of features.

On the basis of recent German test results, which were presented during the meeting, it was noticed that some type of open or vented pressure vessel test is needed to able to observe the thermal decomposition behaviour of some organic peroxide compositions. The MTEVT can be run in both an open and a closed version, but the MCPVT can be run in a closed version only.

In view of the problems which have to be solved and the amount of testing which is required, it was agreed not to submit a final proposal at this time. It is anticipated that a final proposal can be submitted to the December 1997 meeting of the Sub-Committee.

The working group is scheduled to meet again on 24 May 1996 in Rijswijk, The Netherlands, after a regular meeting of OECD-IGUS-EOS. Representatives from other countries and bodies are invited to join the working group.
