PROFILE AND MAIN ACTIVITIES
Profile
The Japanese Marine Equipment Association (JSMEA) was established in 1956 as a non-profit, public-service corporation approved by the Government of Japan.
JSMEA aims to contribute to the development of the Japanese marine equipment industry and its member enterprises by, among other efforts, enhancing their management and production bases; supporting research, development and other activities; and participating vigorously in international exchange and cooperation.
As of June 2006, JSMEA had a membership of 213 companies.
Main Activities
(1) Enhancement of Management and Production Bases
1) Promotion of partnerships and exchanges with users and other industries
2) Promotion of measures to tackle counterfeit marine equipment
3) Promotion of efforts to maintain current and to recruit new technicians for generations to come
(2) Support for advancing the development of new products
(3) Vigorous Participation in International Exchange and Cooperation
1)Reinforcement of efforts geared toward the International Maritime
Organization (IMO) and other maritime organizations
2) Participation in international maritime exhibitions
3) Sponsorship of overseas technical seminars
4) Publication of promotional periodicals in English
5) Management of overseas offices
