Title: Out fitting and deck machinery
Scope: Standardization of design, construction and operation of equipment and technology for ship outfitting and deck machinery, including ship-to-shore interface, cargo systems and lifting gear etc. used in shipbuilding and the operation of ships in support of the requirements developed by the International Maritime Organization(IMO) and the needs of the world maritime industry

Task: Based on IMO resolution A:689(17)-Testing of life saving appliances, 1983 Amendments to SOLAS 1974 and ISO 6067, incorporating ISO/CD 6066-1+2 to develop WI 15516: Ships and marine technology-launching appliances for davit-launched lifeboats.

State of affairs: After the last TC8 Plenary meeting in Dominica, we have taken some effective measures to proceed the project successfully. In March 2002, we submitted the finished ISO/DIS15516 and its explanatory report to ISO Central Secretariat. Up to now, it has been finished DIS voting circulated by ISO/CS.
